My designer had suggested a copper kitchen sink and when I researched copper sinks, I was initially completely negative because the maintenance instructions stated that one needed to dry and wax after use. The Kohler Vault (stainless) is also an easier to install apron front sink that comes in a short apron and Elkay has also started making them - I think in - Copper sinks actually are pretty low maintenance provided one gets a copper sink with a living patina and provided also that one likes the look of a living patina. I found many of the online places not very clear on which Whitehavens were short apron and which were tall apron - find it in the small print:) If you want the short apron for a standard sink base cabinet - be careful in ordering. Home Depot carries the Whitehaven at a lower cost then through a plumb supply shop. My simple / older kitchen with short apron Whitehaven: The short apron evokes a bit the older American style farm sinks while the tall apron resembles the European butler sink. My kitchen is simple, but it also has a vintage / cottage / French Country vibe - something the sink contributes to. I have a small kitchen and the sink base is the only place for a trash can.
